Samsung launched the Galaxy A80 smartphone in India on Thursday at a price of Rs 47,990. The Galaxy A80 packs many industry-firsts for a Samsung phone. This includes an all ‘New Infinity’ display with no notch or cutout, rotating cameras and more. Not to mention, the Galaxy A80 is also the most expensive new-age Galaxy A-series phone in India to date.

The design scheme is familiar if you've crossed paths with recent Galaxy A phones primarily the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A70 - the Galaxy A80 seems to be a gradual step up in the series. The Galaxy A80 has a 3D glass back with metal frame and will be available in a slew of gradient finishes including Phantom Black, Angel Gold, and Ghost White.

The Galaxy A80 is the first Samsung phone to come with its ‘New Infinity’ display which is a simple way of saying it has no notch or cutout to obstruct your view – it is an all-screen smartphone.

The Galaxy A80 does not have a selfie camera in the literal sense – rather, the rear cameras double as front cameras. The Galaxy A80 has a triple rear camera module on the back (48MP+8MP+ToF) that is part of a mechanical lifting mechanism – and when it does lift, the whole module rotates on its axis to function as front camera(s).

The 48MP main camera has an f/2.0 aperture, the 8MP ultra-wide camera has a 123-degree field-of-view, while the ToF or 3D camera is the same as the one found in the Galaxy S10 5G – for 3D depth mapping purposes (the Galaxy A80 can also shoot live focus videos).

Like the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A70, the Galaxy A80 also ditches a conventional fingerprint scanner in favor of an in-display reader.

The Galaxy A70 further comes with a 6.7-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor paired with 8GB RAM 128GB storage which is not expandable. The dual SIM phone runs Android 9 Pie-based One UI. The Galaxy A80 further packs a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging through USB Type-C.
