Samsung will globally announce its brand-new Galaxy M-series of affordable smartphones in India on January 28. The Galaxy M-series from Samsung is expected to debut with two budget-centric devices, the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, on January 28. A third device in the series, called the Galaxy M30, will come later. Samsung's Galaxy M devices will take on competing products from Xiaomi, Asus and Honor.

The Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 will be sold exclusively via online channels like Amazon India and the company’s own e-retail store. Prices will range from just under Rs 10,000 for the entry-level Galaxy M10 model while the Galaxy M20 is expected to cost under Rs 20,000.

“Samsung's new range of Galaxy M smartphones come with powerful display, powerful camera, powerful battery and a powerful processor helping the smartphones deliver power-packed performance for young millennials,” Samsung says about its upcoming Galaxy M line-up.

It is no secret that Samsung is working on a flurry of devices with a flurry of notch styles. Samsung, during its annual Developer Conference in November, had announced the roadmap to such a future: going forward, its devices would be characterized by Infinity-U, Infinity-V, Infinity-O and New Infinity-style screens. We’ve already seen the Infinity-O screen in action courtesy the China-exclusive Galaxy A8s, and with the Galaxy M-series, we’re set to see the Infinity-V display come alive.

The Galaxy M-series phones will reportedly feature a 6.4-inch Infinity-V display. There is no word on whether the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 would boast of the same screen resolution as well: Samsung is generally known to offer 720p screens in its more budget offerings while its mid-tier devices usually hover around the 1080p figure. Samsung’s Galaxy M-series devices are further expected to pack huge batteries – of the tune of 5,000mAh – and the Galaxy M20 could also feature fast charging via USB Type-C.

Interestingly, the Galaxy M India launch marks the global debut of the Galaxy M-series, which means India will be the first market in the world to get it, a market where it is getting stiff competition from the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus. Especially in the affordable and mid-tier price segment. With it, Samsung is also apparently looking to let-go of its Galaxy J and Galaxy On-series, to start afresh in a bid for redemption in the ever-competitive online space.
