Vodafone’s new Rs 499 prepaid plan is now live. This is a long validity plan. A major USP of this scheme is that it offers increased data.

Extra data offering si USP of Rs 499 plan

The data offering under the new Vodafone Rs 499 plan is 2GB per day. This complements the already existing Rs 398 prepaid recharge plan that is also valid for 82 days but offer sonly 1.4GB data per day. The new scheme also falls under the ambit of unlimited-free calling.

As for voice calling, there would be no IUC levied. This, as fixed by TRAI is 6 paise per minute. Jio already levies IUC on customers making voice calls to non-Jio networks across India. Now, the Vodafone Rs 499 plan which is valid for 82 days offers free voice calling for up to 250 minutes in a day. There would be 100 free text messages as well.

For the uninitiated, the data offering under the Rs 499 plan would be Supernet 4G. This would essentially be high-speed data. Here, the plan is seemingly suitable for those users preferring to opt out from having to recharge every month just to even keep their prepaid numbers active,, and also for those preferring to indulge in increased multimedia content consumption and watching content streaming on their smartphones.

An important point to remember, at this juncture, is IUC levy. This unlimited pack does not levy extra IUC on customers making calls to non-Vodafone networks. Also, it is worth remembering that there have been rumours of late about Vodafone exiting India due to mounting losses. The telco stated that it has no plans to do so and would continue offering and upgrading telecom services for India. The Supreme Court, in a recent verdict has upheld the central government’s definition of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) leading to a huge amount to pay for certain incumbent telcos amounting to as much as Rs 92000 crores combined.
