Xiaomi Mi 9 full specs leaked, Snapdragon 855 and triple rear cameras on the cards

Xiaomi maybe gearing to launch its next-generation flagship phone, aka the Mi 9, soon. Full specs of the alleged Xiaomi Mi 9 have leaked online leaving nothing to the imagination. So has the phone’s starting price. Rumour has it that Xiaomi may start selling the Mi 9 as early as March this year so an unveiling around MWC 2019 cannot be ruled out. 

Let’s start with the purported specs. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is said to come with a 6.4-inch 19:9 1080p+ AMOLED display with a waterdrop-style notch, something on the lines of say the OnePlus 6T. It is unsurprisingly said to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 855 processor with at least 6GB RAM and at least 128GB storage. The phone is said to run Android Pie-based MIUI 10 software. 

Xiaomi’s Mi flagship phones have always packed interesting cameras, and the Mi 9 seems to be no exception, if the leaked specifications are anything to be gone by. The Mi 9 is said to be Xiaomi’s first triple camera phone and will reportedly ship with a primary 48MP sensor (Sony’s IMX586 sensor), a 12MP sensor and another TOF or time-of-flight camera for 3D depth mapping purposes. The phone is further said to sport a 24MP selfie shooter embedded into the waterdrop-style notch. 

Moving on, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will reportedly come with a 3,500mAh battery with 32W fast charging (Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 standard) but sadly no wireless charging. It is also said to ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner. 

As for pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is said to start at CNY 2,999 which roughly translates to Rs 30,514. This is for the base 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version. There should be more versions, much like it was in the case of the Mi 8. The Mi 8 also had a more premium Explorer Edition which came with a transparent back among other things, and also Xiaomi went on to launch a Mi 8 in-display fingerprint edition later which came with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Not to mention, the Mi 8 was also accompanied by a more affordable Mi 8 SE, which was later followed by an even more affordable Mi 8 Lite. 

Something similar may happen with the Mi 9 as well. The same may be true about its India availability as well. Xiaomi did not bring any of its Mi 8 line-up devices to India, so we cannot say for sure yet, if it would bring the Mi 9 to India anytime soon after launch.
