Leaked teasers spotted on Weibo suggest that Xiaomi may be working to launch a new smartphone called Redmi Pro 2 in China. Speculation has it that Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is likely to be the model that was earlier advertised to feature a 48MP rear camera. To recall, Xiaomi co-founder and president Bin Lin recently posted a close-up picture of some unknown phone on Weibo teasing a 48MP rear camera. Bin had described this mysterious handset as “not bad.”
Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is believed to be the successor to Xiaomi Redmi Pro. To recall, Xiaomi Redmi Pro was launched in China back in 2016. So, if these teasers are to believe, Xiaomi may be planning to revive its Redmi Pro smartphone series. Xiaomi Redmi Pro was introduced to the world with MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core chipset as well as dual rear cameras.

As per leaked teasers, powering Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 could be Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 appears to be a camera-centric smartphone. That is essentially why Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro is rumoured to feature a 48MP rear camera.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 chipset incorporates its Spectra 250L ISP module with an aim to enhance the photography experience. Qualcomm SD675 supports up to 48MP snapshot, 25MP single camera and 16MP dual-camera. It also supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps).
In related news, Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil a new smartphone Xiaomi Play in China. Xiaomi Play will become official on December 24. Xiaomi Play could emerge as a whole new series aimed at mobile gamers.
