Folks over at Apple believe given that Apple Maps integrate with the system platforms, regional turn-by-directions make iPhone experience more appealing for domestic customers. Although third-party maps apps are easily available to download for iPhone users, features like proactive alerts or Apple Watch navigation may help Apple Maps differentiate itself from competitors.

For many users in India, Google Maps happen to be the primary, default navigation application, courtesy of Android's popularity offering Google Maps with different modes and features like driving, walking and public transport. 

According to a report, in spite of the popularity of Google Maps, many people prefer to use Apple Maps because of its user interface.
