If you use Google Maps regularly, do check out if you are able to see a new icon within maps. This new icon could potentially represent much-needed features such as accident reporting and speed traps.

Now, this rumoured development has come to the fore via a tipster on Reddit who has posted screenshots of the speed tarp and accident reporting functionalities. Hence, you could check out Maps for these new aspects and share your thoughts on the accident reporting and speed trap functionality.

These rumoured aspects also sound familiar to Google’s own Waze functionality that offers enhanced vehicular traffic reports along with providing driving directions and GPS navigation. With accident reporting and speed trap included in Google Maps (potentially), the user experience could go enhanced in multiple ways.

As of now, the public rollout of the above rumoured Google Maps feature is still yet to be announced. In tandem with this, 9to5Google also mentions about noticing the newer features within Google Maps. hence, the onus falls back on Android users to familiarize themselves with the phased rollout of Google Maps features.
