Here’s how you can create your own, customised WhatsApp stickers

Move over emoticons WhatsApp stickers could be the next big thing on the messaging app. During Diwali, we saw a lot of users sending Diwali greetings over WhatsApp stickers, unlike more traditional methods such as text, pictures, videos and GIFs. Many instant messaging platforms offer stickers for example, WeChat, Telegram, Facebook’s own Messenger platform etc.
Folks over at WhatsApp are currently in the process of making stickers more widely accessible to the masses. WhatsApp stickers are not yet available for iOS users. But once they do, iPhone and iPad users can download third-party sticker packs and in some cases, make their own stickers as well.
No matter how exciting stickers are, you may not be able to discover the ones you like due to a limited number of sticker packs currently available to download. With the solution that Whatsapp is working on, you can now create your own stickers.
A step-by-step guide on how to create your own, customised WhatsApp stickers
Step 1: Go to Google Play Store for Android and search for an app that goes by the name ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp.’ Given that WhatsApp stickers feature is yet to go live for iOS users, one cannot possibly create WhatsApp stickers on iPhones at the time of writing this.
Step 2: Once you locate the ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ app by the developer Viko & Co. Do keep in mind that this a third-party app. So, we would like to advise you to be a little cautious when indulging with third-party apps.
Step 3: You may download and install the app on your Android device. Once installed, open the ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp’ app. On the main screen itself, the app will show you an option to create a new sticker pack.
Step 4: While creating a new sticker pack, you need to fill in some basic details when prompted. You need to input details like Stickerpack name and Stickerpack author. Once you are done, tap the option ‘Create.’
Step 5: Before you publish your sticker pack, you can upload up to 30 stickers. All you need to do is select an image file you want to add as a WhatsApp sticker. You can take new a picture using your camera or upload the one from your phone’s storage.
Note: If you decide to take a photo, the app will seek permission to access your phone’s camera and storage. If you decide to go with the second option, it still requires to access to your phone’s storage.
Step 6: Now comes the interesting part! You can upload a picture and draw an outline with your finger to select sticker area. Once you are done, a sticker will be created.
Step 7: The app will prompt you whether you want to publish your stickerpack. However, once you hit the publish option, you won’t be able to edit or add stickers to the existing pack anymore. You need at least three stickers to publish your sticker pack.
Step 8: Once you publish the sticker, the app will prompt you whether you want to add your sticker pack to WhatsApp. Simply tap the option ‘Add’ to proceed further. You will then receive a confirmation that your customised sticker pack has been added to your WhatsApp.
Step 9: Go to WhatsApp and open the chat window to share your customised WhatsApp stickers. Tap on an emoji face at the start of your message window. At the bottom, you should see an option for stickers right next to emojis and GIFs.
