Ho ho ho, it’s Christmas time already! Soon we can expect Merry Christmas greetings to pour in and flood our Facebook page, Twitter feed and WhatsApp chat. WhatsApp is a more personal way of communication comparatively, and people prefer sending greetings to individuals on WhatsApp rather than posting them publicly on social media. And now you can make your WhatsApp Christmas greetings a lot more personal and fun.
A couple of months ago, WhatsApp Stickers were announced for Android and iOS users. And as we observed during Diwali, more users on WhatsApp seem to be making a shift from traditional methods to greet others i.e., text, emojis, pictures and videos. Users now prefer sending WhatsApp stickers instead. Considering how big WhatsApp is in the country stickers have found whole new popularity by featuring on the messaging app even though WhatsApp is rather late to receive the stickers update unlike many of its competitors like Hike and Telegram that have had the feature for quite some time.
We show you how you can download and send Christmas stickers to your loved ones this festive season.
A step-by-step guide on how to download WhatsApp Christmas stickers
Step 1: It’s always better to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your smartphone. You can check by navigating to your respective App stores (Google Play for Android and App Store for iOS).
Step 2: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone. Go to the desired chat window you want to share Christmas stickers with. Now, simply tap on an emoji face at the beginning of your message box.
Step 3: At the bottom of your WhatsApp, you will see an option for stickers right next to emojis and GIFs. Tap on the WhatsApp stickers icon. You should see quite a few pre-installed stickers available over there.
Step 4: Tap the + icon at the right-hand side of your stickers window. Find the sticker pack called ‘Merry and Bright.’
Step 5: You can also download third-party Christmas stickers. All you need to do is Scroll down and tap the option ‘Get more stickers.’
Step 6: You can select and download any Christmas sticker pack from the list.
Step 7: Once you download and install WhatsApp Christmas stickers on your phone, go to WhatsApp and add whatever stickers you want by tapping + button.
Step 8: WhatsApp will prompt you to add Christmas stickers. Tap the option ‘Add.’ Once done, you should see a confirmation that a particular sticker pack has been added to your WhatsApp.

A step-by-step guide on how to create custom WhatsApp Christmas stickers
Step 1: Android users need to install the app ‘Sticker maker for WhatsApp.’ Do keep in mind that this a third-party app. So, we would like to advise you to be a little cautious when indulging with such apps.
Step 2: Once installed, you need to fill in some basic details. You need to input details like Stickerpack name and Sticker pack author. Once you are done, tap the option ‘Create.’
Step 3: You can upload up to 30 stickers in one pack. All you need to do is select image files you would like to add as WhatsApp stickers. You can take new a picture using your camera or upload the one from your phone’s storage.
Note: It’s better if you add pictures as PNG with a transparent background. Otherwise, it will end up looking like a miniature photo. You can remove the background from any picture, courtesy of this new tool called Remove.bg. It uses AI to recognise human faces and remove the background accordingly.
Step 4: You can upload a picture and draw an outline with your finger to select the sticker area. Once that’s done, a sticker will be created.
Step 5: Once it’s published, you can’t customise it in any way. You need at least three stickers to publish your sticker pack.
You can add your custom sticker packs to your WhatsApp by following the steps mentioned above.
