Microsoft Edge browser preview based on Chromium engine is now available for macOS users. Earlier this month, Microsoft unviled its plans for a new Chromium-based Edge browser at its annual BUILD developers conference. Other than Microsoft Edge browser, Chromium Engine also powers many other popular web browsers such as Google Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, etc. We show you how to install Microsoft Edge browser on the macOS.
The successor to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge browser is a default web browser on Windows operating systems since 2015. Eventually, Microsoft released mobile versions of Edge for Android and iOS. Just a day after the BUILD conference, a leaked version of the Canary builds for macOS arrived. However, the official preview of Edge for macOS wasn’t available until now.
“Last month, we announced the first preview builds of the next version of Microsoft Edge for Windows 10. Today, we are pleased to announce the availability of the Microsoft Edge Canary channel for macOS,” Microsoft said in its official blog post.

“Microsoft Edge for macOS will offer the same new browsing experience that we’re previewing on Windows, with user experience optimizations to make it feel at home on a Mac.”
Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac received its last update more than 16 years ago in 2003. Since then, Edge happens to be Microsoft’s first web browser for macOS. Over the next few weeks, Microsoft will improve its browser’s overall look and feel of its browser on macOS.
