TikTok murder: Delhi shooter reportedly got a gun only a few hours before the incident

Recently, a 19-year-old Salman was shot dead by his friend Sohail in Delhi while posing with a pistol to film a TikTok video. Now, according to a new report, the shooter obtained a gun only a few hours before the incident happened last Saturday night.

Here’s what happened

The shocking incident took place near Ranjit Singh Flyover in central Delhi on Saturday when three friends Salman, Sohail and Amir went out for a drive. Salman and Sohail were seated in the front seats while Amir was seated in the rear seat of the car. Sohail pulled out a country-made pistol and aimed at Salman who was driving the SUV, to film a TikTok video.

However, the pistol went off shooting Salman on his left Cheek. But instead of taking Salman to a hospital, Sohail and Amir drove to Sohail’s relatives' place in Daryaganj where Sohail changed his blood-stained clothes. Later, Salman was taken to the LNJP Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police investigation

Police arrested Sohail for shooting Salman while Amir was arrested for disposing of the weapon. Sharif who was not present at the spot when the incident occurred was arrested for disposing of the blood-stained clothes. 

Further Police investigation revealed that Sohail obtained a gun from his friend only a few hours before the incident. According to a report, Police have obtained CCTV footage of Sohail’s friend giving him the pistol that same evening.

Police registered a murder case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and section 25 and 27 under the Arms Act, at Barakhamba Police Station. Police had earlier raised the suspicion whether the bullet was fired accidentally or with an intent to kill.

Earlier this month, the Madras High Court directed the center to impose a ban on over the concerns of "pornographic and inappropriate content" being made available through such apps. The matter is pending in the Supreme Court. TikTok lets users lip-sync short dance videos and share with their friends.
