Instagram is now taking on TikTok with some new additions to the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app. Instagram is rolling out lyrics to ephemeral stories. As a result, you can now lip-sync to songs and music videos with lyrics on Instagram stories. TikTok's growing popularity and fan base in India and worldwide has been causing enough headache for apps like Instagram and Snapchat and the latest move by Instagram's seems to capitalise on the trend set by TikTok in this segment.

Now that Instagram is adding quite a few new music features to its app, it will be interesting to see how Instagram further competes with TIkTok in an effort to gain the maximum user attention.

How does Instagram's new music lyrics feature work?

Well, Instagram music tab lets users an option to sing along with lyrics. Instagram also posted a new story with American singer Billie Eilish singing "My Strange Addiction." Now we know what the lyrics function on Instagram stories will look like. With the move, Facebook may be trying hard to connect with younger audiences like never before. Meanwhile, China's ByteDance-owed widely popular TikTok all allows users to lip-sync to songs and dance.

Of late, TikTok has been a preferred platform among young influencers to reach out to millions of fans. Instagram initially started off as a platform to share still imagery. Eventually, Instagram expanded into videos and now, they seem to be getting into music.

Instagram Stories' lyrics feature has already rolled out to apps. Here's how to use it.

  • How to add lyrics to Instagram music stories?
  • Update your Instagram to the latest version
  • Open your Instagram app
  • Tap on the camera icon at the top left corner
  • Scroll over Music tab on the menu at the bottom
  • Choose a song you want to display on your Instagram story
  • Select the part of the song you want to play
  • Tap the Music icon and then tap the Stickers icon
  • Pick the music sticker and select your song once again
  • You can customise the way lyrics show up
  • Send to your friends or publish as your Instagram story

Instagram is currently in the process of rolling out lyrics feature for stories to more users. So if you haven't received the feature yet, you should receive it soon.
