Dell is bringing its crazy Alienware Area-51m gaming laptop to India. There’s no other way to say it – the Alienware Area-51m is literally bonkers. It’s a laptop so high-end, it wants to replace your desktop rig. The Alienware Area-51m is probably the only laptop in its class that lets you selectively upgrade both the GPU and the CPU so you can swap them at will. Now or several years down the line.
Not that it skimps on hardware. The Alienware Area-51m is a high-end gaming laptop with desktop-class Intel 9th Gen CPUs up to a Core i9-9900K and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs up to a GeForce RTX 2080 with 8GB of GDDR6 RAM.
Just like a desktop rig, the Alieware Area-51m uses a socketed Intel Z390 motherboard, and the GPU on-board isn’t soldered onto it. The laptop ships with four RAM slots which can accommodate up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and will be available in storage configurations ranging from hybrid to PCIe M.2 SSDs to RAID 0.
The Alienware Area-51m further comes with a 17.3-inch 1080p IPS display with the maxed-out version including a 144Hz refresh rate, Tobii Eye Tracking and Nvidia’s G-Sync. Connectivity options include three Type-A USB 3.1 ports, a Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI 2.0, Mini-DisplayPort 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet, and Alienware Graphics Amplifier port.
The Alienware Area-51m will be available for buying in India from April 1 at a starting price of Rs 2,99,590.
Also tagging along are the Alienware m15 and G7 15 laptops – both targeted towards different audiences. While the Alienware m15 is being touted as the thinnest and lightest 15-inch Alienware gaming laptop that’s powerful enough to handle high-graphic games, the G7 15 tries to bring high-end gaming possibilities at a relatively more mainstream price.
The Alienware m15 packs 8th generation Intel Core i7 processors along with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 and 2070 MQ design graphics card options while the G7 is powered by the 8th generation Intel Core processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 20 series discrete graphics.
While the Alienware m15 starts at Rs 1,78,399, the G7 15 starts at Rs 1,57,399 - both the laptops will be also available for buying in India from April 1.
“This is an exciting time for PC gaming all over the world, as well as in India. We are delighted to introduce ground-breaking, high performance gaming machines like Area-51m and m15. After all, gamers across levels love us and we want them to know that, like before, we are here to make the best tech available to them,” Frank Azor, vice president & general manager, Alienware, Gaming and XPS said while launching the new laptop range in India.
