The next-gen Microsoft Xbox One console, which not too long ago was rumoured to be disc less, is now rumoured to be called the Xbox One S. The launch date of this apparent Microsoft new-gen gaming unit could now be during the first quarter of this year, itself.
As per a Windows Central report, the next iteration of the Xbox One would be titled Xbox One S All Digital Edition; with pre-orders said to begin apparently during the middle of April 2019 timeline. Ability to purchase the Xbox One S All Digital Edition console, by users, is speculated to come to the fore from as early as in May 2019.
Another fact that stems from the above WIndows Central report is the fact that the launch of the Xbox One S All Digital device could be almost global. Here, India is also on the scheme of things as far as Xbox loyalty of gamers is concerned.
Now, the Xbox One S would not deal with physical game discs which means that future games could be completely digital, along with publishers potentially offering a mechanism to convert existing disc-based titles to completely digital ones. If the disc-free Xbox One S consoles does go official in the very near future as speculated by rumours, this could lead to a scenario wherein the next-gen game console could have very little hardware thus potentially offering an additional degree of portability for its users.
Also, Sony could unveil a next-gen variant of its popular PlayStation (PS) console. Rumour mills have gone as far as stating that there would b backwards compatibility offered by these new consoles for existing current-gen PS4 titles.
In related updates, search engine giant Google could unveil a gaming device developed under its Project Yeti. Reports state that this device could be showcased during the Game Developers Conference that is scheduled to take place in San Francisco from March 18-22 2019.
