Microsoft's HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset has been introduced at the MWC 2019. HoloLens 2 is the successor to Microsoft's original HoloLens that was introduced back in 2016. Microsoft claims its next-gen mixed reality headset is more immersive and comfortable experience than its predecessor.

HoloLens 2 includes Microsoft's latest AI sensors like the time-of-flight depth sensor. It has an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer that are essential.

"We are entering a new era of computing, one in which the digital world goes beyond two-dimensional screens and enters the three-dimensional world. This new collaborative computing era will empower us all to achieve more, break boundaries and work together with greater ease and immediacy in 3D," Microsoft said in its official blog post.

HoloLens 2 features a holographic display for see-through augmented reality using a mirror-lens holographic optical element. It has an eye-based rendering that determines exactly where you are looking. It features an 8MP stills camera that can record 1080p video at 30 frames per second (fps).

With the help of Microsoft's next-gen mixed reality headset, you can see more holograms with 3D images at once through an enhanced field of view. You can log in to HoloLens 2 using your eyes with Windows Hello. It supports voice commands through microphones and natural language speech processing.

Powering the HoloLens 2 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 Compute Platform. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity.

HoloLens 2 will be up for grabs later this year for $3,500 or $125 monthly subscription that also includes access to Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. HoloLens 2 will be sold intially in the select countries like United States, Japan, China, Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia and New Zealand.

Microsoft has already started taking pre-orders through its official website.
