The OnePlus TV, by OnePlus, a smart tv that leverages the Android TV platform, would get at least three years of regular software updates. This has officially been announced by OnePlus in an official blog post which also states that the partnership between OnePlus and Google would result in issuing of security patches and firmware by the former for a period of three years. This means that users of the yet-to-be-released OnePlus TV can rest assured about security that is now taken care of.

OnePlus TV

“Having evaluated all the options available to us, we concluded that the Android TV platform was the only platform that would enable us to provide a Fast & Smooth experience,” stated OnePus CEO Pete Lau in the above blog post.

At this point in time, it is worth remembering that OnePlus TV’s new logo which was unveiled recently incorporates elements from Indian Hindu symbol – the mandala along with the Heraoin of Argos Greek temple in tandem with geometric progression elements. “As we approach the OnePlus TV's launch, I am starting to get more and more excited about our very first TV. I'm incredibly graceful for what our team, with the help of our community, managed to achieve, and I can't wait to see your reaction when the OnePlus TV finds its way into your living room,” adds Lau.

OnePlus TV Release date

Lau has still desisted from revealing the exact release date for the OnePlus TV. However, going by rumour mills currently doing the rounds, the OnePlus TV Android TV could be released in September this year (not confirmed). This has got loyalists interested in the OnePlus TV. Now, moving back to the OnePlus TV’s software updates, it would be desirable for OnePlus to not mess up deliveries of the updates for the three brief years that the update would seed to users. Don’t you think so in reality?
