In what could be a shocking incident, a man attacked his fiancee's brother with a knife after draining out his phone's battery while playing PUBG. A complaint has been registered with Kolshewadi police in Maharashtra's Thane district.

Here's what happened: According to reports, a man identified as Rajnish Rajbar drained out his phone's battery while playing PUBG. When he could not get a charger, he picked up a fight in the house and attacked his would-be brother-in-law, Om Bavdhankar with a knife.

The incident happened on February 7 but a case of attempt to murder was registered a week later on February 14.

"Rajnish Rajbar drained out his phone battery playing Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). When he could not get a charger, he picked up a quarrel in the house and attacked his would-be wife's brother Om Bavdhankar with a knife," the official said.

Cops are currently probing into the incident. However, police have not arrested Rajbar yet.

Of late, cases of severe PUBG addiction have caused enough disturbance among the players and their families. Earlier this month, an 18-year-old teenager in Mumbai committed suicide when his parents refused to buy him a new mobile phone to play PUBG.

While psychiatrists often warn parents against aggressive behaviour among those who play too much PUBG, its addiction is clearly not limited to children anymore. Infact, psychiatrists have also seen a rise in the number of patients and concerned parents turning up to treat PUBG addiction.

Recently, the Bombay High Court Thursday directed the Maharashtra government and the Centre to respond to public interest litigation seeking children be prohibited from playing the mobile game PUBG at school.
