Airtel’s scheme of offering insurance cover to prepaid subscribers has now extended to the Rs 249 plan. This includes life insurance cover. Now, this is an unlimited calls plan.

Airtel Rs 249 plan

Benefits of the Airtel Rs 249 plan include free – unlimited calls. Then the data offering is 2GB per day which should be sufficient for general everyday users preferring to consume video-multimedia related content. Even a section of corporate subscribers could find the Rs 249 scheme useful. Validity of the pack is 28 days.

USP of this scheme is its life cover. Airtel has been offering the facility for most of its high-recharge value (more than Rs 200) prepaid recharge tariff plans. As far as SMS is concerned, users could send 100 SMS messages in a day. Calls would be free without any IUC being levied. For the uninitiated, Bharti Airtel has earlier stated that it would not pass on the burden of IUC which is 6 paise per minute for calls made to non-Airtel networks on subscribers. This is a positive step. Rival telecom operator Reliance Jio has already been levying 6 paise per minute IUC on subscribers. This has also launched all-in-one packs that include free IUC minutes for calls to other networks.

As of now, the Rs 249 scheme – along with the insurance cover is live on the eRecharge portal of the telco. You could alternatively check out the MyAirtel app as well. In related news, BSNL has launched the Rs 118 scheme that is valid for 28 days and offers free calls up to 250 minutes per day along with 0.5Gb internet per day. This is valid for 28 days and falls into the category of low-denomination (less than Rs 200) recharge schemes. This is live for all circles of the state-led telco including that of Mumbai and Delhi respectively.
