The release of Android 10 could be around the corner. According to reports, Google is all set to roll out Android 10 to all Pixel phones. Two mobile carriers in Canada reportedly leaked release dates of Android 10 release for Google Pixel phones. The release date for Android 10 rollout is said to be September 3. Going by these reports, Google is likely to roll out the latest version of its Android operating system starting today.
Android 10 software release
Two Canadian mobile carriers Roger and Telus reportedly leaked the release date on their support forum. It is reported, both Rogers and Telus posted timeline details of Google's incoming software updates including the major ones. It seems like one of the carries Rogers has since removed the details. Interestingly, Telus still has the information available on its website. This is believed to be all about what the Telus website refers to as "Android Q + security update."
While there is no guarantee that Pixel users will start receiving this software and security update today until Google officially sheds some light. Last month, Google said that the public release for Android 10 was just a few weeks away, and at that time, Google released the final beta for Android 10. All Android releases tend to roll out to Google phones first. Hence, it makes sense for Google to release Android 10 to Pixel phones first.
Android 10 features
Talking about the features, the Android 10 brings new privacy features to safeguard user privacy. What's more, the incoming update will also bring Dark Mode, gesture controls and more. Apart from Google Pixel phones, the Android 10 beta update was rolled out to phones from brands such as Nokia, Huawei, LG and OnePlus.
Last month, Google's Sameer Samat (vice president of product management, Android) announced changes to the way they have been naming Android releases. So, Android Q officially became Android 10. Google said they had heard feedback over the years that the (desserts) names were not always understood "by everyone in the global community." Samat said re-branding Android release helps make release names simpler to understand. Here is what Samat had to say.
"We think this change helps make release names simpler and more intuitive for our global community. And while there were many tempting “Q” desserts out there, we think that at version 10 and 2.5 billion active devices, it was time to make this change. "
