A Twitter user who goes by the handle @rocky_mohamad alleged that an Apple iPhone X burst into flames after updating the software. The tweet goes on to describe that the device heated up while in the process of upgrading its software to iOS 12.1. The tweet also includes pictures of the handset, implying the damage caused by the incident. It's clear from the image shared that the phone saw the serious damage.

This is the first time such a case has been reported for the new Apple iPhone X, even though there were reports that suggested that older iPhones have exploded due to various reasons.

Apple's iPhone X was launched in November last year and it has been the most celebrated iPhones of all time as it was launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary of iPhones.

It is going to be an extremely serious issue if similar cases are reported. As we have seen in Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 case that while it may have started slow, it caught on pretty quickly. In a matter of months, from being reviewed as the phone of the year, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was disallowed on all aircraft.

Responding to @rocky_mohamad's tweet, Apple said “That's definitely not expected behavior. DM us, so we can look into this with you.”

Republic World has reached out to Apple and will update the story with the response.
