Amidst its revival, state-led telco BSNL has now launched another prepaid plan valid for as much as 7 months. This is the Rs 998 tariff scheme. At this juncture, BSNL’s 4G services have become a subject of discussion across the Indian telecom circles.
The BSNL Rs 998 scheme
Now, as per a Telecom Talk report, the Rs 998 prepaid plan is live in the Kerala telecom circle. Here, it is worth remembering that the state-led telco had been carrying out 4G trial runs in this telecom circle. As far as benefits of the Rs 98 scheme is concerned it offers 2GB data per day. Telecom Talk also states that this tariff plan is only a data-exclusive one. It reportedly does not offer free voice-calling and other benefits that plans in the more than Rs 900 scheme come with.
Hence, if you are a BSNL loyalist and really crazy about using increased data per day – mostly for multimedia content needs such as streaming movies/videos and the like, you could avail this plan. As of now, the pan may come to other telecom circles of BSNL in India. There is no official confirmation regarding this aspect.
In related aspects, BSNL has been on a revamp spree ever since a revival from the central government was announced. This includes allocation of 4G spectrum, the merger of MTNL with BSNL, and monetization of assets. Merger of MTNL with BSNL has resulted in calls to erstwhile MTNL telecom regions of Delhi and Mumbai becoming free. Then, the 4G services of the telco are expected to start at the earliest.
