The recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2019) witnessed a multitude of prototypes and integration of AI in some others to add a degree of smartness within gadgets. In this regard, the Nokia N9 which is now seemingly phased out could make its re-debut soon in an all-new smart avatar running on the KaiOS operating platform.

This is courtesy KaiOS Technologies that resulted in the showcase of three phones at Google's booth at the CES 2019, with one among these bearing uncanny resemblances to the Nokia N9 which was launched in 2011 and seemingly captured eyeballs of a relatively wider user base. The other handsets included the likes of a JioPhone, and yet another feature phone seemingly invoking memories of the Nokia 8110.

Now, the common thread between the JioPhone and the Nokia 810 handset is the fact that both these handsets are driven by the Kai OS operating platform. Hence, rumour mills at this point in time are abuzz with estimations with respect to the Nokia N9 being in the launch pipeline by HMD Global. Now, this purported handset may or may not run on KaiOS. Also, KaiOS now supports essential applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube.

Hence, Nokia loyalists could share thoughts/insights on the probability of a Nokia N9 being launched soon potentially featuring “trendy” technical aspects. To refresh memories the original Nokia N9 ran Nokia’s MeeGo operating system.

In related Nokia developments, a host of Nokia smartphones except the Nokia 8 should now be receiving Android Pie OS update. For Nokia 8 users, it seems that there were certain technical issues concerning VoLTE in India requiring HMD Global to deploy new software to ensure that the update got back on track. If you are a user of Nokia 8, do check your handsets more regularly for newer notifications potentially representing the latest Android 9.0 firmware and OS update.
