BSNL is now said to be launching 4G services throughout India. This should offer people lots to cheer about. This is because, 4G expectations form BSNL have been at an all-time high, especially now considering the fact that private telco Reliance Jio announced that it would levy 6 paise per minute Interconnect Usage Charge (IUC) on customers making voice calls to other non-Jio networks. As of now, BSNL has started offering new 4G SIM-cards to customers.

Here, as per a Telecom Talk report, BSNL could also deploy full-fledged 4G services in regions where its 3G networks are used minimally. Even VoLTE calls could also be made after the deployment of 4G. BSNL is also said to be in talks with smartphone manufacturers, for rolling out VoLTE. There are also speculations about the telco converting all its 3G coverage into 4G ones. An exact date for this transition is yet to be announced by BSNL. This could happen relatively quickly, now, that IUC has come into the picture. On the other hand, private telcos viz Jio, Airtel have been talking about 5G in India. However, BSNL’s 4G services would certainly do good, especially to those customers desirous of porting from their existing private networks, on to BSNL.
Also, it should be interesting to note that BSNL 4G also started trending, on 16 October, on Twitter. This was after a long period of time. Gauging expectations form netizens, the anticipation for the rollout of the 4G services has certainly reached a crescendo. At this juncture, when implemented timely (not too late now), BSNL’s 4G could complete the transition from 3G to 4G. 5G, as of now, may not be relevant, 4G has indeed brought people together through high-speed connectivity.
