Google’s social platform Google+ is now all set to go away starting April 2, 2019. In this situation, if you are a Google+ user, it should not hurt to maintain data backups from right now. You could download all of your Google+ data using a very simple approach.
In case you are looking at downloading your Google+ data, you could navigate to this page which would contain all your data (pre-selected) after you log-in with your Google+ credentials. After this, select the desired file type you prefer to see your data in and select Next/ Create Archive to get all your data.
This is not all, multiple functionality of Google+ would also be phased out starting from as early as February 4, 2019. The features that would be done away with include the likes of making new Google+ pages, profiles, and communities. Also, beginning March 7, Google+ comments on Blogger and other websites would also be eliminated forever.
This essentially marks the beginning of the end of Google+ which once was seen as Facebook’s closest competitor.
“We have also decided to accelerate the sunsetting of consumer Google+ from August 2019 to April 2019. While we recognize there are implications for developers, we want to ensure the protection of our users,” stated David Thacker who is Vice-President of Product Management at G-Suite; in a recent blog post.
