Huawei says it deployed AI-based pre-5G tech on Vodafone Idea network
Huawei says it has deployed India's first artificial intelligence (AI) based pre-5G technology on Vodafone Idea network. Previously, Airtel worked with Huawei.
Huawei says it has deployed India's first artificial intelligence (AI) based pre-5G technology on Vodafone Idea network. Huawei claims the deployment of AI-based massive MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) network will enhance user experience by three-fold within the same set of the spectrum.
"We are consistently deploying futuristic, next generation technologies to enhance the capacity and efficiency of our network. Adding AI capabilities to India's largest deployment of massive MIMO for enhancing user experience is a further testament of our commitment to create a future-proof network for the digital era," Vodafone Idea Ltd Chief Technology Officer Vishant Vora said in a statement.
Huawei further added Massive MIMO leverages 5G technologies in 4G network.
"We are delighted to partner with Vodafone Idea Limited in making them ready for the 5G-led future. The deployed solution will enable Vodafone Idea to enhance their pre-5G massive MIMO network," Huawei India CEO Jay Chen said.
Huawei now working with Vodafone Idea
According to the statement, Vodafone Idea network currently has India's largest and world's third-largest massive MIMO deployment
Meanwhile, Airtel has also been working with Huawei to deploy its 5G technology transmission equipment. In the last six months, Airtel has deployed a hundred hops of 5G technology transmission equipment of Huawei. Huawei claims its transmission equipment could transmit data on up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) speed with 28 megahertz of radio waves to connect one mobile tower with another.
Standards for multiple input multiple output, MIMO plays a very important role in 5G. MIMO considered a key enabler and a foundational component of 5G. A MIMO network can increase the capacity of a wireless connection without requiring more spectrum.
Huawei had said earlier that by adding carrier aggregation technology in the hops, which is pair of microwave antenna installed on different towers, can upgrade data transmission speed to up to 2 Gbps and save power consumption by 20 per cent, reduce tower rental fee by 50 per cent while achieving transmission distance of up to 13 kilometres.
In related news, Vodafone Idea is also working with Ericsson to deploy Cloud Packet Core to boost its network performance, helping itself improve its existing wireless broadband services.
