Samsung Galaxy A8s touted as the apparent “Real Galaxy” is set for global launch today. The smartphone is widely expected, by Samsung loyalists, to be a flagship handset having premium pricing. Samsung loyalists can also watch the livestream of the launch of the Galaxy A8s.
It is also possible to watch the Samsung Galaxy A8s launch livestream from India as the event would be watchable from 1:30 PM IST. Though this event would be held in China, it is possible for Indian loyalists to catch the livestream of the event. Samsung loyalists can click here to navigate to the official Samsung livestream page.
At this point in time, this launch assumes significance considering the fact that the Samsung Galaxy A8s seemingly competes with the likes of recent Chinese smartphone models like the OnePlus 6; when the former hits India it could go head to head with the latter; at this juncture, it is worth noting that multiple Chinese brands have been dominating the smartphone market scene in India leading to Samsung relegating to positions below the Chinese brands (OnePlus and Xiaomi mostly).
Hence, the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A8s seems potentially important for Samsung. As per rumour mills, the handset would reach India and have price tags starting from Rs 35000. It is also expected (by Samsung smartphone loyalists) that the Galaxy A8s would feature the Infinity-O display. This means that there could be potentially no notch-type display sported by the handset.
Other apparent technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A8s have also surfaced, as per these the smartphone offers:
- 6.4-inch display having resolutions
- Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system; out of the box
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC
- 24 MP + 10 MP + 5MP rear cameras; with triple-LED flash
- 24 MP front camera
- 6 GB RAM edition rumoured to be made available
- 128 GB internal storage
- LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 5.0 Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 connectivity
- 3400 mAh fixed Lithium-Polymer battery.
With the apparent competition between Samsung Galaxy A8s and OnePlus 6 being the focal point, it is worth taking a look at the key technical specifications of the OnePlus 6; the Chinese “flagship” comes with:
- 6.3-inch display
- Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box; upgradeable to Android 9.0 (Pie) firmware
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC
- 16 MP + 20 MP rear cameras
- 16 MP front camera
- 6/8 GB RAM
