The ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) seemingly has surprises for smartphone enthusiasts along with that of the more serious-expected phone launches. Surprises here include the likes of the Red Outer Coloured variant of the BlackBerry Key2 Red which is a next-gen handset. This is a surprise considering the fact that the battle between BlackBerry smartphones (the new-gen ones) and brands like Nokia, Samsung could make for an exciting watch; this was the scenario till sometime back both in the B2C as well as B2B technology segments.

Now, BlackBerry whose handsets are now manufactured by TCL was a known top player in the premium smartphones segment not too long ago, along with being an inseparable part of many of the business folk who took a fancy to the company’s BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) application long before WhatsApp was released. On its part, the BlackBerry Key2 runs on the Google Android operating system and USP of the phone is its traditional QWERTY keypad over a modern design.

The red coloured variant of the BlackBerry Key2 looks impressive and this factor can potentially be considered as another USP of the smartphone. BlackBerry’s Key2 has technical specifications such as a 4.5-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a 12MP dual main cameras.

The handset runs on the Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system and is powered by a 3500 mAh battery that is also compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Also, there is a MicroSD card slot for expanding the internal storage up to 256GB.  For users preferring to indulge in video calling and capturing selfies, there is an 8MP front snapper.

At this juncture, it is worth noting that the BlackBerry Key2 was launched last year, and the Red edition of the smartphone has now been made official at the MWC 2019. This phone is available for pre-orders now in the EU; the handset’s India launch scheme of things in the near future is not known at this point. BlackBerry Key2 has a price tag of Rs 52300 (649 Euros) at the moment.

Gauging the available images of the BlackBerry Key2, the modern Android + traditional feeling is unmissable. In this regard, do share your insights on the new BlackBerry.
