The mid-range Nokia 5.1 Plus that was discounted recently, has now seemingly received another piece cut where the 32GB edition of the smartphone is available for Rs 10999. Here, it is worth noting that the original price tag of the handset was Rs 13199.

E-tailer Flipkart is now claiming to deliver the Nokia 5.1 at the above prices. This reduction also represents a near 15% price cut over the original online price of the Nokia 5.1. The e-tailer is also letting purchasers avail the handset at an EMI of Rs 366 per month. At this juncture, it is worth noting that this price cut is seemingly not a part of festive season offers or New Year offers; but seems independent which means that these should essentially be open sales of the Nokia 5.1 at the reduced prices. At brick-and-mortar retail stores, the Nokia 5.1 has an average pricing of Rs 13000.

For the uninitiated, the Nokia 5.1 Plus features the below key technical specifications:

  • 5.8-inch display
  • Android 8.1 (Oreo) over the Android One platform; eligible to receive Android Pie as an OS update
  • MediaTek Helio P60 SoC
  • 13 MP and 5 MP dual rear cameras; with dual-LED flash
  • 8 MP front snapper
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage up to 400 GB
  • LTE, HSPA, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity
  • 3060 mAh fixed battery.

In related Nokia news, the Nokia 106 feature phone costing an ultra-affordable $22 (Rs 1500) is now available for purchase in India. Now, feature phones are still relevant; in economies such as India and Africa; especially in the scenario of the latter, the Reliance Jio’s JioPhone series have been seemingly acting as feature phone revitalizers considering the fact that these handsets offer VoLTE-compatibility and support for essential applications such as YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook. The Nokia 3310 that is priced at approximately Rs 3000 was also said to be popular in 2018 taking the overall global market share of feature phones to 23%.
