OnePlus Assured Upgrade program launched in India, offers up to 70 per cent buyback value on OnePlus 6T

OnePlus, on Friday, announced its OnePlus Assured Upgrade program in India in a bid to let “OnePlus users upgrade to newer OnePlus devices in a seamless manner.” But there’s a catch. The program can be availed only by OnePlus 6T buyers who purchase a brand-new OnePlus 6T during the Republic Day sales (from January 19-27) on Amazon.in and OnePlus exclusive offline stores. Existing OnePlus 6T owners cannot avail the program, as of now.  

The OnePlus Assured Upgrade program has been launched in partnership with Servify and can be availed by OnePlus 6T buyers for an additional Rs 199 over the cost of the handset. Under the upgrade program, OnePlus 6T buyers can get “guaranteed buyback value of a maximum of 70 per cent of the purchase value of the device and a minimum of 40 per cent of the purchase value of the device between 3-12 months from purchase date of the device on upgrade to a future OnePlus flagship.” 

Here is the complete breakdown: 

-70 per cent of the purchase value of the device between 3 and 5 months from the date of purchase 

-55 per cent of the purchase value of the device between 6 and 8 months from the date of purchase 

-40 per cent of the purchase value of the device between 9 and 12 months from the date of purchase 

As an example, if you buy the 6GB variant of the OnePlus 6T priced at Rs 37,999 and upgrade to a new OnePlus smartphone within the next 3-5 months, you will be eligible for a buyback amount of Rs 26,599. The buyback does make sense for those invested into the OnePlus ecosystem because OnePlus has been in the habit of launching a new OnePlus phone every 5-6 months.
