Samsung Galaxy M-series India launch set for January 2019, Infinity-V display on cards

After having resisted the notch trend for the longest time, Samsung is gearing to launch a flurry of devices with a flurry of notch styles in the days to come. Samsung, during its annual Developer Conference in November, had announced the roadmap to such a future: going forward, its devices would be characterized by Infinity-U, Infinity-V, Infinity-O and New Infinity-style screens. We’ve already seen the Infinity-O screen in action courtesy the China-exclusive Galaxy A8s, and in January 2019, we might see the Infinity-V display come alive in the form of four new devices.  

These devices are said to be part of Samsung’s all-new Galaxy M-series, and the devices in question are called the M10, the M20, the M30 and the M40. Samsung is gearing to debut these devices, possibly all in one go, in January 2019, according to a new IANS report. Interestingly, this would mark the global debut of the Galaxy M-series, which means India would be the first market in the world to get it, a market where it is getting stiff competition from the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus. Especially in the affordable and mid-tier price segment.  

The Galaxy M-series phones, the Galaxy M10, the Galaxy M20, the Galaxy M30 and the Galaxy M40, will reportedly feature a 6.4-inch Infinity-V display. There is no word on whether all of them would boast of the same screen resolution as well: Samsung is generally known to offer 720p screens in its more budget offerings while its mid-tier devices usually hover around the 1080p figure. Being an all new series also means, we do not know for sure about the price bracket that Samsung is looking to operate in. What we do know, according to the report, is that its Galaxy M phones “follow months of R&D carried out by Samsung India,” and “would be in line with the company's strategy to consolidate its position among the country's millennials.” 

We’re probably looking at a mid-tier price bracket, in line with the company’s Galaxy A line-up: a line-up that is also witnessing lots of activity lately, thanks to Samsung being open to trying out new innovations and not keeping them to its premiere devices like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note. The Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A9 are classic examples. 

Little is known about the core hardware of Samsung’s Galaxy M phones, but the report adds that all these phones would pack big batteries under the hood.
