Samsung Galaxy S10 launch confirmed for February 20, India launch could be in first week of March

Samsung will launch its 10th anniversary flagship Galaxy S10 phones on February 20 ahead of MWC 2019. Samsung is hosting its annual Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 20 where it will take the wraps off its Galaxy S10 phones for the global markets. Samsung is also expected to show off its foldable phone during the Galaxy S10 launch event, according to a WSJ report.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones at MWC 2018, and therefore, it was expected that Samsung would do the same thing with the Galaxy S10 line-up as well. But then, a 10th anniversary edition Galaxy S10, does deserve its own dedicated launch event: which is precisely what is happening. This wouldn’t be the first time Samsung would skip the MWC to launch its flagship Galaxy S phone though. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were launched in March 2017 post MWC.
There could be one more reason why Samsung is launching the Galaxy S10 line-up early this year – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ (and even the Galaxy Note 9) have failed to set the cash counters ticking for the company even though they’re downright amazing devices. An early launch may give Samsung a good head start as well as help it build hype (before rivals start pumping out their own flagship devices) which could possibly entail in bigger and better sales. Now Samsung is known to bring its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones to India just days after their global launch, at least that’s how it has been lately. We expect the Galaxy S10 line-up to arrive in India as soon as in the first week of March.
This year, Samsung is expected to launch as many as three Galaxy S devices: the Galaxy S10 Lite (or the Galaxy 10 E), the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+. While the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are said to be high-end premium phones, the Galaxy S10 Lite or Galaxy S10 E is expected to come with toned-down specs and a relatively more affordable pricing. All the Galaxy S10 phones will reportedly pack punch-hole selfie cameras, with the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ expected to also pack in-display fingerprint scanners.
