Samsung Galaxy S10 tipped to feature this all-new unlocking system; Can you guess?
Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to release sometime in 2019: Rumoured technical features and specifications.
Samsung Galaxy S10 may not feature the iris scanner at the time of launch next year, according to a new report by a media outlet ETnews. South Korean electronics giant initially provided users with a new biometric authentication system starting with the Galaxy Note 7 in 2016. Since then, Samsung continues to offer the iris scanner with their Galaxy S and Note-series smartphones.
A report has it that Samsung is likely to focus on the in-display fingerprint reader technology as the sole authentication mechanism with their upcoming flagship. Samsung could be planning to stretch its display more towards the edge as an attempt to make the upcoming Galaxy S10 a truly bezel-free flagship smartphone.
However, this is not the first time rumours about removing the iris scanner off Samsung Galaxy S10 have emerged online. Apart from the ETNews report, a Twitter tipster Ice Universe said that Samsung Galaxy S10 will ditch the iris scanner in favour of the ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which is faster and has more screen real-estate to recognise the input compared to optical fingerprint sensors.
To shed some light on differences between the two, in theory, ultrasonic fingerprint reader produces more accurate, 3D image of a finger to authenticate only a registered digit when in use. A standard optical fingerprint reader, on the other hand, uses light to illuminate a small portion of the screen to verify the entire, registered finger. Even though an in-display fingerprint sensor will be slower by a beat, this feature is gaining a lot of popularity particularly as it helps in bumping up the phone display.
Recently, OnePlus 6T launched with the standard, optical in-display fingerprint reader. Prior to OnePlus 6T, certain Vivo phones like the Vivo X21, NEX and V11 Pro came in with the optical fingerprint reader technology in India and global markets.
If everything goes as per these emerging reports, Samsung may soon have a stunning, truly-bezel less smartphone with the futuristic, ultrasonic fingerprint scanning mechanism in place. Samsung Galaxy S10 is also tipped to feature a triple-camera system on the rear whereas the selfie camera is expected to go behind the display.
