Vivo has been doing some crazy innovative things for over a year now. Last year’s Apex was nothing short of revolutionary in many ways. The fact that Vivo was able to commercialize the concept through the Nex soon enough was crazier still. The Nex had two headlining features, a pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. But it was a flagship phone that cost almost Rs 40,000. Vivo later brought one of its marquee features, the in-display fingerprint scanner, to a relatively more mainstream product, the V11 Pro. And now, it may be looking to do the same with the pop-up selfie camera.

Vivo is now sending block your date invites to the media for a new product launch in India slated for February 20 where it is likely to announce a phone called the Vivo V15 Pro -- successor to the V11 Pro -- that has been subject to multiple leaks and rumours for a while now. Case renders of the phone in question suggest the Vivo V15 Pro will come with a triple rear camera setup and a pop-up selfie camera. The block your date invite sent out by Vivo confirms one of these aspects. Vivo is launching a new pop-up selfie camera phone in India on February 20.

The pop-up selfie module looks exactly like the one we saw in the Nex, although Vivo might have re-adjusted its positioning. Regardless, it should work on the same concept. Which also means that it will be built out of mechanical parts. The pop-up selfie camera in the Nex can be used hassle-free about 50,000 times, according to Vivo, and something similar will be expected from its upcoming phone as well. The presence of a pop-up selfie camera also seemingly confirms another key aspect of Vivo’s upcoming phone, that it will ship without a notch.

It would be interesting to see if the upcoming Vivo phone also packs an in-display fingerprint scanner but the fact that the company was able to bring it in a phone like the Vivo V11 Pro that cost around Rs 25,000 suggests we just might be in for a surprise, come February 20. As is the case with most Vivo phones, it won’t be surprising if Vivo announces it in China before its February 20 India launch.
