Vodafone now has a new plan that offers an unlimited calling + data up to 2.5GB per day. This scheme is now live. For this, subscribers could recharge for Rs 255.
Vodafone Rs 255 scheme
Now, validity of the Vodafone Rs 255 prepaid scheme is 28 days. This offers totally free unlimited calls. In some of the telco’s prepaid plans, free calls are restricted, per day, to 250 minutes (four and a half hours). There are also 100 free text messages which could be sent in a day. This recharge of Rs 255 is now live. For the uninitiated, USP of the Rs 255 scheme is its unlimited voice calling and relatively huge data offering.
Also, the above plan comes amidst huge speculations that hint at a possible exit for the telco from the Indian market. Recently, the Supreme Court directed few incumbent telcos, including Vodafone, to pay penalty amounting to as much as 92000 crores towards spectrum usage and other charges. However, Vodafone India has not confirmed on exit plans. In case it does exit, then existing subscribers would be served notice to port out to other operators or surrender existing numbers overall.
In related news, with IUC being a key focus now, Reliance Jio has come out with a Rs 49 scheme for first-time JioPhone users. This offers free voice calls to Jio numbers and on recharging for Rs 10 (atleast) there are guaranteed free IUC calls as well. The IUC is in compliance with TRAI directive that mandates operators to pay 6 paise per minute as IUC to the other operator (for voice calls). Jio is also compensating users with additional data for every Rs 10 they spend towards IUC recharge.
