Xiaomi Redmi Go On Sale Now In India: Could The Rs 4500 Android Go Smartphone Turn Into a Matter Of Choice For Buyers?
Is it worth buying the Xiaomi Redmi Go Rs 4500 Android Go smartphone in India?
The Xiaomi Redmi Go has gone on sale in India, this sale is a flash sale which means that there is every possibility that the Rs 4500-priced handset could get sold out in a matter of a few seconds. However, with its USP being that of the Android Go platform based on Android 8.1 (Oreo), the smartphone is definitely affordable but is this aspect enough to make it a worthy choice for a cross-section of buyers preferring to buy both their primary as well as secondary phones.
Redmi Go - A value for money technical offering?
First things first, the Redmi Go’s Rs 4500 pricing makes the phone definitely affordable, probably even for the millennials fresh out of college. Xiaomi’s Redmi Go also offers LTE - but so does the Reliance Jio Phones that have so far seen two increments of the JioPhone feature phones that also offer LTE and can be purchased starting from Rs 1600 (security deposit for three years; the phone is advertised as virtually being free of cost).
Hence, if a potential situation indicating a JioPhone vs Redmi Go healthy battle does arise, then the advantages for the latter would be its pure Android smartphone experience and other key technical specifications such as the 3000 mAh Lithium-Ion battery; 8MP + 5MP dual overall cameras, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, as well as a fair screen that has resolutions of 720 x 1280 pixels.
Now, tech-specs wise, there should be no comparison between the JioPhone and Redmi Go, but the deciding factor here is the reachability. The former is said to have accumulated an overall market share of more than 21% in 2018. With Xiaomi also reportedly aggregating in excess of 20% with respect to both shipments and market share, th Redmi Go’s acceptability is certainly worth looking out for at this juncture. Here, if there is a battle, it should be taking place with value for money being the parameter. We think that the Redmi Go could have a slight edge here as it costs Rs 2000 more than the JioPhone whilst offering a smartphone experience (Android Go software).
Matter of preference
Also, with “secondary smartphones” finding preference amongst mostly high-end smartphone buyers in India, the Redmi Go could find preference amongst this section of users. The Xiaomi loyalists could also do their bit to chip in, when it comes to purchasing an affordable smartphone that does justice to the pure Android experience whilst maintaining that Redmi aura that is known for its apparent offering of newer features within affordable hardware.
Hence, the final choice of purchase lies with you (buyers); the Redmi Go though not a world-beating device could give those on shoestring budgets lots to cheer about. Its longevity is again a matter of sustained real-world tests.
