Watch video: NASA astronaut back on earth after 197 days in space, having to learn to walk again
Astronaut A.J. (Drew) Feustel struggles to walk on Earth after spending 197 days in Space. Feustel shared a video of him, finding it difficult to walk properly and adjust with Earth’s gravity after spending over 6 months into the International Space Station (ISS).

Astronaut A.J. (Drew) Feustel struggles to walk on Earth after spending 197 days in Space. Feustel shared a video of him, finding it difficult to walk properly and adjust with Earth’s gravity after spending over 6 months into the International Space Station (ISS). The video was recorded on October 5 but Feustel shared it last week.
In his tweet, this is what A.J. (Drew) Feustel had to say:
“Welcome home #SoyuzMS09 ! On October 5th this is what I looked like walking heel-toe eyes closed after 197 days on @Space_Station during the Field Test experiment...I hope the newly returned crew feels a lot better.”
Given the fact that Feustel spent almost 200 days in Space, which is a really long period, one can understand the trouble walking properly on Earth primarily due to the fact that there is a lot of difference in terms of the gravitational force between Earth and Space.
According to Mashable, astronauts train themselves for about two hours every day to maintain muscle mass as well as bone density while in Space’s microgravity. However, it doesn’t make things simple and quick to walk properly in Earth's gravity.
This is how Twitterati responded to Feustel’s video:
