Mahindra and Mahindra Chairman Anand Mahindra on Thursday joked about Indians being talkative and making long speeches while addressing the Private Sector Forum at the United Nations General Assembly during the Climate Week 2019. The business tycoon tweeted a video of him remarking about 'talkative Indians' while speaking about why he chose to read his speech from a lectern. He humourously said that since Indians tend to be talkative, giving a speech without a script can lead to a disaster as bad as Climate Change. Taking the podium, he said,"...Talkative Indian on stage like that without notes, that's a disaster equivalent to Climate Change," leading to an uproar of laughter from the audience.

Eighty-seven CEOS had joined heads of state in the program. He also said that this indicates that the level of awareness on Climate Change among in the Corporate structure has increased. Mahindra spoke about the potential of business to spread awareness about climate change in his speech.
