Taiwanese hacker says he's going to delete Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook account

A Taiwanese hacker on Wednesday announced he will be deleting Mark Zuckerberg's account on Facebook and will live-stream the same.

A Taiwanese hacker on Wednesday announced he will be deleting Mark Zuckerberg's account on Facebook and will live-stream the same. Chang Chi-yuan who has all of 26,000 followers on the social-networking platform, posted the following threat on his Facebook page, "Live streaming the deletion of FB founder Zuck's account. Scheduled to be live". 

According to media reports, this live video is scheduled for  6 p.m. local time on Sunday, September 30, which is 3 a.m. in San Francisco, 6 a.m. in New York and 11 a.m. in the UK. As per a report in Bloomberg, Chang Chi-yuan who has previously hacked into Apple and Tesla. He was reportedly sued by a bus operator after he hacked into their system and bought a ticket for merely 3 cents. 

Chang Chi-yuan reportedly claimed he doesn't even want to be a hacker and only does it when he is bored and wants to earn some money. This Taiwanese hacker reportedly, had earlier managed to buy over 500 iPhones for less than 4 cents. 

On a related note, on Friday, Facebook released an official blog post stating that the security of over 50 million Facebook accounts was compromised. "Attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted “View As”, a feature that lets people see what their own profile looks like to someone else. This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts. Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app", the statement read.

The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed the same. In a post shared on his Facebook wall, he wrote:

I want to update you on an important security issue we've identified. We patched the issue last night and are taking precautionary measures for those who might have been affected. We're still investigating, but I want to share what we've already found:

On Tuesday, we discovered that an attacker exploited a technical vulnerability to steal access tokens that would allow them to log into about 50 million people's accounts on Facebook.

We do not yet know whether these accounts were misused but we are continuing to look into this and will update when we learn more.
