In a concerning incident in the national capital, at least 14 inmates of a Delhi govt-run shelter home 'Asha Kiran' died in the period of a month. Situated in Rohini area, the shelter home is run for the mentally challenged people. However, the cause of deaths is not known yet. Among the 14 deceased were a minor and six women. Last week, an inquiry panel was constituted to probe the matter, the report of which is awaited. The fact-finding team of the NSW was scheduled to arrive at the shelter home to investigate the facts. Meanwhile, Delhi minister Atishi ordered a probe into the incident. Atishi has directed the Revenue Department to initiate a magisterial inquiry into the deaths and submit a report within 48 hours.
