US Senator Mark Kelly has claimed that the American-made Mark 84 bomb was used in the Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. The rocket that struck Hezbollah’s headquarters was a 2,000-lb (900-kg) Mark 84 series bomb, known for its devastating power. Kelly, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Airland Subcommittee, highlighted the bomb's use, which can create a crater 50 feet wide and 36 feet deep. The Mark 84 has been in the US inventory since the Vietnam War and is one of the largest bombs by weight. Israel hailed the strike as a significant victory, but observers are concerned this could escalate tensions between Israel and Iran.
