Vigil at Western Wall in Jerusalem for Israelis held hostage in Gaza for over a month
Hundreds of family members of hostages held in Gaza joined supporters outside the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Tuesday to call for the release of their loved ones.
They expressed outrage and sadness that the captives are still held one full month after being taken on Oct. 7 from southern Israel.
Singing and praying together while holding signs of the kidnapped, parents and friends gave speeches calling for their release.
They also lit a memorial flame that will be carried across the world to build political pressure to aid their release.
More than 240 people are held in Gaza, kidnapped on an unprecedented cross-border raid by Hamas to kibbutzes and Israeli military positions bordering the Gaza Strip in southern Israel.
The Palestinian death toll in the war surpassed 10,300, including more than 4,200 children, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
In the occupied West Bank, more than 160 Palestinians have been killed in the violence and Israeli raids.
More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed, most of them in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack that started the fighting.
