An under-construction bridge collapsed in Madhubani district, Bihar, marking the fifth such incident in the state in nine days. Located in Madhepur Block near Bheja police station, the 75-meter-long bridge, costing ₹3 crore, had been under construction since 2021 by the Bihar government's Rural Works Department. Heavy rainfall caused water levels to rise, leading to the collapse of a 25-meter supporting pillar into the river below. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav highlighted the incident, amidst recent collapses in Kishanganj, East Champaran, Siwan, and Araria districts, raising concerns over infrastructure safety in Bihar.
