Rahul Gandhi vs BJP On Rahul's Subersive Comments On Sikh Community During US Visit Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi stirred up a political storm with his comments on religious freedom in India, he took the example of Sikhs, during an event in the U.S. Speaking at an event in Herndon, Virginia, on Monday, Rahul Gandhi remarked, "The struggle in India revolves around whether a Sikh will be permitted to wear a turban, whether they can wear a kada, or attend the Gurudwara. This issue extends beyond Sikhs and affects all religions." BJP countered Gandhi's talk on religious freedom reminding him of the Anti-Sikh Riots of 1984 in India under the Congress regime which alienated the Sikh community and made them feel unsafe.
