On Monday, comedian Kunal Kamra was charged with a felony for his controversial and defamatory remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which includes 356(2) (defamation) and 353(1)(b) (statements conducing to public mischief), according to a MIDC police station official. This comes hours after Kamra's performance of Shinde "Gaddar" (Traitor) at The Habitat Comedy, which featured a modernized rendition of a Hindi song from "Dil To Pagal Hai," gained a lot of attention.
