Tel Aviv Protestors Demand Immediate Release Of Hostages, Ceasefire; US Presses For Truce
Families of hostages held in Gaza and their supporters protested in front of the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to demand an immediate cease-fire deal that would return their loved ones home. The protest came after Israel’s military said it recovered the bodies of six hostages taken in Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that started the war, bringing fresh grief for many Israelis who have long pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a cease-fire that would bring the remaining hostages home. The recovery came as the United States, Egypt and Qatar are trying to mediate a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas that would see the release of scores of hostages held by the militant group.
