Viral Video: A viral video has landed an Ahmedabad resident in hot water after he brazenly flaunted his alleged illegal liquor business.

Ashraf Pathan, a Gomtipur resident, found himself on the wrong side of the law after a video of him boasting about his illicit alcohol trade and showcasing a purported stash went viral.

The video quickly caught the attention of authorities, leading to his detention from his Khetarshabawa Chhapra residence.

Gujarat's stringent prohibition laws, in place since 1960, prohibit the possession, sale, and consumption of alcohol. Those caught violating these laws face severe penalties, including imprisonment and hefty fines. Pathan's attempt to flaunt his alleged illegal activities proved to be a costly mistake.

When confronted by the city crime branch, Pathan claimed the video was shot in a liquor godown in Ajmer, Rajasthan, five days prior, later he expressed remorse for his actions.

However, the damage was done. The viral video was shared by @AhmedabadPolice on social media platform X. The video post shares a caption that says, ‘Ahmedabad city crime branch nabs Ashraf alias Bapu, who made reels in a godown full of liquor boxes.’
