Kolkata: A recent advertisement by the famous Kolkata magician PC Sorcar has been making waves on the internet. The unusual ad caught the public's eye as it appeared in the "Patra-Patri Chai" section of a Sunday newspaper.

The Swayamvar ad included a candid request for a prospective groom: “Regardless of caste, creed, or age (38-45), a handsome, tall, well-established man wanted.”

PC Sorcar Jr.'s daughters—Maneka, Mumtaz, and Maubani have all followed in their father's footsteps and established themselves in their respective fields. Maneka has pursued a career in magic, while Mumtaz and Maubani have made names for themselves as actors.

Speaking to a leading media outlet, Maubani, the youngest daughter, shared her thoughts on the unconventional approach. She believes in the concept of "soulmates" and views relationships, whether formed through love or arranged marriages, as a way of uniting two hearts. Referring to the Swayamvar tradition, where girls had the freedom to choose their partners, she added, “It’s a beautiful process of selecting a life partner, and that’s how I see this marriage.”

Maubani also mentioned that she has been single for some time and emphasized her desire not to waste anyone’s time. She added that while external appearances might matter in the media industry, a kind heart and honesty are what truly matter. "You have to be able to live under the same roof with someone who has a beautiful heart," she shared.

Maubani also gave her insights into the evolving dynamics of relationships. Citing her aunt Maneka’s divorce in 2012, she remarked, “Marriage is a big decision, but sometimes getting out of a toxic marriage is better than staying in an unhappy one. Divorce should not be looked down upon, as it’s important to find your soulmate. Society should support people in moving forward in life.”

PC Sorcar’s unconventional belief reflects his faith that there is a perfect match for everyone, even in the modern world.
