Tech-Driven Luxury: QR Codes, Colour-Coded Wristbands, and Top-Tier Medical Care In Ambani Wedding
Mukesh Ambani's son Anant's lavish wedding featured QR code entries, colour-coded wristbands, high-profile guests, and extensive medical preparedness.
Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, orchestrated the most extravagant wedding of the year as his youngest son, Anant Ambani, tied the knot with pharmaceutical heiress Radhika Merchant. The event, marked by opulence and grandeur, saw a star-studded guest list and meticulous arrangements, creating a spectacle that captured the world's attention.
A Wedding Like No Other
The wedding festivities commence at the Ambani-family-owned Jio World Centre in Mumbai's BKC, where guests gained entry through QR codes messaged to their personal mobile phones. Colour-coded paper wristbands granted access to different zones, ensuring a seamless flow of the numerous high-profile attendees.
Global celebrities, business tycoons, cricketers, film stars, and politicians gathered to celebrate the union. The event featured three different receptions, each tailored for distinct guest groups. The festivities began on Friday with the main wedding ceremony, followed by a 'Shubh Ashirwad' blessing ceremony on Saturday, and culminated with a 'Mangal Utsav' reception on Sunday.
Star-Studded Guest List
The wedding was a veritable who's who of international and Indian luminaries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi blessed the couple on Saturday, while former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, Former Indian Cricket Team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, and footballer David Beckham were among the distinguished guests. Indian business magnates Gautam Adani and Kumar Mangalam Birla attended alongside Bollywood's biggest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sunil Shetty and Salman Khan.
Lavish Invitations and Keepsakes
Guests received three different types of invitations, with the most exclusive being a large red box containing an intricate chest with a mini silver temple featuring gold idols of Hindu deities. The invitation included various keepsakes such as an embroidered cloth with the initials 'AR', a blue shawl, and a silver box filled with more gifts. Attendees confirmed their presence via email or Google Form, after which QR codes were shared six hours prior to the event for secure entry.
Unparalleled Security and Medical Preparedness
Security at the event was exceptionally tight, with multiple layers of protection and detailed emergency plans akin to those reserved for heads of state. Medical response teams, complete with doctors, paramedics, and ambulances, were on standby to address any potential health emergencies.
A Series of Lavish Pre-Wedding Celebrations
The three-day wedding was the culmination of a series of lavish pre-wedding parties hosted by the Ambani family since March. These included a three-day celebration in Jamnagar, Gujarat, attended by tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates, a four-day Mediterranean cruise featuring performances by the Backstreet Boys and Katy Perry, and a sangeet night with Justin Bieber.
Criticism and Praise
While the wedding dazzled many, it also drew criticism for its ostentatious display of wealth amidst growing concerns about inequality in India. Author Salil Tripathi described the event's extravagance as "vulgar" and "exhibitionist" on social media.
Mukesh Ambani, the world's 11th richest man with a net worth of USD 119 billion, has transformed Reliance Industries into a global conglomerate. His youngest son, Anant, oversees the company's renewable and green energy expansion, while Radhika Merchant, the bride, serves as the marketing director for her family's company, Encore Healthcare.
The wedding of Anant and Radhika, with its unparalleled grandeur and meticulous planning, will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most remarkable events in recent history.
