Work From Office? Reddit User Deletes Teams to Avoid Off-Hours Call, Internet Impressed

The ‘Work From Home’ policy, which was almost unheard of before 2020, has now become one of the most popular modes of working for millions of employees worldwide. However, many companies still do not offer remote work options and require employees to come to the office.

A Reddit user recently shared a post about his office’s strict ‘no work from home’ rule, which employees were expected to follow even during a snowstorm. In response, the Reddit user did something remarkable that left netizens amazed. 

The Reddit user deleted ‘Teams and emails’ off their phone, during the off hours. The employee was also unavailable for an urgent call by their boss during off hours, as the Redditor simply chose to ‘stick’ by the ‘no work from home’ policy. The reddit user also posted about the same. 

The Reddit post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘BladeoftheS’. The post was captioned, “Seems fair to me.” The post crossed  9.4M views and left the internet impressed. 

Most people praised the employee, calling it a 'commendable trick' to avoid unnecessary office work at home. Others chimed in, sharing their own strategies for maintaining work-life balance.

One internet user commented  “Good point. Have you noticed how they grimace when you ask to work from home, but when they need you on a support rota, you're suddenly able to do the most important work from anywhere?”. Another  said, “My manager has done the same, he doesn’t have Teams on his phone and his response is the company never bothered to give a work phone and I'm not installing their monitoring software in my personal devices,” “Last week I went to the office after 2.5 years. I had my laptop upgraded. Doing work in the office is an absolute nightmare. Noise, lots of distraction, small screens. I managed to do 15% of the work that I did at home. I plan to go to the office for my retirement only,” added a third person.
