Viral News: Zara, a Spanish retail clothing giant, recently made headlines after facing criticism over a children's t-shirt that was deemed "sexually suggestive."
The controversy started when a woman released a video of a white crew-neck shirt with black and red lettering reading "The Perfect Snack" on the left side of the chest and "The Strawberry: A small burst of sweet joy" on the right.
In the viral video, the back of the t-shirt had two parts of a strawberry, one revealing the inside and the other the outside.
The caption on the back read, "Take a bite." A blast of sweet delight, making it the ideal summer snack" and "the strawberry: a little burst of ecstasy".
The viral video shared by @chaos.to.sanity on his Instagram account shows the Zara T-shirt with a wild brand campaign that just backfires on them. The woman writes, ‘If you think this is wrong, please let me know so I don’t feel crazy... Is this wrong? Or not? Personally, I’m disgusted—who is buying this t-shirt for their child?!!’
Zara T-Shirt Controversy Viral Video:
Netizens in the comment section started a debate with a mix of comments on the Spanish brand Zara for their bizarre marketing campaign.
One user wrote, 'Ewwwwww, this is completely inappropriate.’ Another viewer commented, "The only perversion lies in your interpretation." Why can't kids wear a strawberry on their t-shirts with comments about how nice they are? You need to get a life.’
Zara issued a clarification, saying, ‘There was no intention for the use of the word'snack' on this T-shirt to imply anything other than the traditional meaning of the word, as evidenced by the image of a strawberry on the garment. However, we now understand that some individuals have interpreted the term differently.’
This is not the first time Zara has landed in trouble. In the recent past, Zara drew fire for an ad campaign featuring mannequins covered in white sheets, which some found reminiscent of photos from the Gaza Strip.
